Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar and salt have dissolved. Mix the vinegar mixture into the cooked rice.
  3. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of rice on the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  4. Slice the fresh fish into thin slices. Lay the slices on the rice.
  5. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Slice the sushi rolls into bite-sized pieces. Arrange the sushi and sashimi on a platter.
  7. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
