Sticky Rice Roll
A popular Taiwanese breakfast dish, the Sticky Rice Roll combines the chewy texture of glutinous rice with a variety of fillings wrapped in a crispy youtiao (Chinese doughnut).
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - To taste
- Pork floss - 1 cup
- Pickled mustard greens - 1 cup, chopped
- Youtiao (chinese doughnut) - 4
- Glutinous rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Soak the glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible.
- Drain the rice and steam for about 15 minutes, or until the rice becomes translucent and sticky.
- While the rice is steaming, prepare the youtiao by cutting it into halves.
- When the rice is ready, spread it on a clean surface or a bamboo mat. Place the youtiao on top of the rice, then add the pickled mustard greens and pork floss.
- Roll the rice around the fillings, pressing firmly to ensure everything sticks together.
- Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
