Steamed Pork Buns

Ingredients - Serves 10

Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the flour and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise for 1 hour.
  3. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, ginger, and garlic. Mix well.
  4. After the dough has risen, divide it into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disc.
  5. Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center of each disc. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.
  6. Place the buns on a piece of parchment paper in a steamer. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Steam the buns over high heat for 15 minutes, or until the buns are puffy and the filling is cooked through.
