Soparnik
Soparnik is a traditional Croatian dish made with a thin dough filled with Swiss chard, onions, and garlic.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Swiss chard - 500 grams, chopped
- Water - 250 milliliters
- All-purpose flour - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and water to make a dough. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until softened.
- Add the Swiss chard to the pan and cook until wilted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll out one part into a thin rectangle.
- Spread half of the Swiss chard mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll out the second part of the dough into a thin rectangle and place it on top of the Swiss chard mixture.
- Press the edges of the dough together to seal the filling.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Transfer the soparnik to a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing into squares or triangles.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
