Scotch Egg
Scotch eggs are a classic British snack. They are hard-boiled eggs wrapped in sausage meat, breaded, and fried.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Breadcrumbs - 100 grams
- Flour - 100 grams
- Sausage meat - 500 grams
- Eggs - 4 large
Let's Get Started
- Place the eggs in a pot of cold water and bring to a boil. Boil for 9 minutes, then immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to cool.
- Peel the eggs.
- Divide the sausage meat into 4 equal portions.
- Flatten a portion of the sausage meat into a patty, place an egg in the center, and wrap the meat around the egg. Repeat with the remaining eggs and sausage meat.
- Roll each sausage-wrapped egg in flour, then beaten egg, then breadcrumbs.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Fry the Scotch eggs until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
