Salt Baked Chicken

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Clean the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the chicken inside and out with the five-spice powder.
  4. Stuff the chicken with the ginger and green onions.
  5. Pour the sea salt into a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven. Place the chicken on top of the salt, breast-side up.
  6. Cover the pot with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for about 1 hour, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Remove the pot from the oven and let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before removing it from the salt.
  8. Carve the chicken and serve.
