Pakistani Curry
This flavorful Pakistani curry is made with a blend of aromatic spices, tender meat, and creamy tomato sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Yogurt - 1/2 cup
- Chicken or beef - 500 grams, cut into pieces
- Tomatoes - 4 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and release their juices.
- Add the meat pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
- In a small bowl, whisk together yogurt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Pour the yogurt mixture into the pan and stir well to coat the meat.
- Cover the pan and let the curry simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
