Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the roasted barley under cold water.
  2. Place the barley in a pot with the water.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the barley simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the barley steep in the water for another 5 minutes.
  6. Strain the barley out of the water. The remaining liquid is your mugicha.
  7. You can enjoy the mugicha hot, or let it cool and serve it over ice for a refreshing cold drink.
