Momos
These delicious steamed vegetable momos are a popular Tibetan and Nepali dumpling dish.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Green onions - 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Carrots - 1/2 cup, grated
- Cabbage - 1 cup, finely chopped
- Water - 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and water to make a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped cabbage, grated carrots, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each dough circle.
- Fold the edges of the dough circle to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal the momo.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
- Place the momos in a steamer basket and steam for about 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is cooked and the filling is tender.
- Serve the steamed momos hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
