Let's Get Started

  1. Cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, marinate the pork shoulder and shrimp with turmeric powder, minced garlic, and salt. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated pork shoulder and shrimp, and cook until they are cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced shallots and cook until they are caramelized.
  5. Add the chicken broth and fish sauce to the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  6. To serve, divide the cooked rice noodles among bowls. Top with the cooked pork shoulder, shrimp, caramelized shallots, bean sprouts, lettuce, and cilantro.
  7. Pour the hot broth over the noodles and ingredients in each bowl.
  8. Garnish with crushed peanuts and serve with lime wedges.
