Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash them.
  2. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour to the melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened.
  5. Add the mashed potatoes, nutmeg, salt, and pepper to the saucepan. Stir until well combined.
  6. Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, shape the mixture into small cylindrical croquettes.
  8. In a shallow dish, beat the eggs. Place the breadcrumbs in another shallow dish.
  9. Dip each croquette into the beaten eggs, then coat it in breadcrumbs.
  10. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Fry the croquettes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  12. Remove the croquettes from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  13. Serve the kroketten hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
