Jamón Croquettes
These delicious Spanish ham croquettes are creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They are a popular tapas dish in Spain.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Olive oil - For frying
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2, beaten
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Jamón serrano - 1/2 cup, finely chopped
- Milk - 1 cup
- Flour - 1/4 cup
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Add the chopped jamón and season with salt and pepper. Cook for a few more minutes, then remove from the heat and let cool.
- Once the mixture is cool, shape it into small cylinders. Dip each cylinder into the beaten eggs, then roll in the breadcrumbs.
- Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the croquettes until they are golden brown on all sides.
- Drain the croquettes on paper towels and serve hot.
