Homemade Tofu
A simple and healthy homemade tofu recipe made from soybeans.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Coagulant (such as lemon juice or vinegar) - 2 teaspoons
- Water - 6 cups
- Soybeans - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Soak the soybeans in water overnight.
- Drain the soybeans and blend with 3 cups of water until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth into a pot, squeezing out as much liquid as possible. This is your soy milk.
- Heat the soy milk over medium heat until it reaches a boil. Stir constantly to prevent it from burning.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the coagulant.
- Let the mixture sit for 15-20 minutes. During this time, the soy milk will separate into curds and whey.
- Pour the mixture into a tofu mold lined with a cheesecloth. If you don't have a tofu mold, you can use a colander or sieve.
- Place a weight on top of the mold and let it sit for 20 minutes to press out the excess liquid.
- Remove the weight and take out your tofu. It's now ready to be used in your favorite recipes!
