Let's Get Started

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  6. Top each slice with 2 slices of cheddar cheese.
  7. Divide the sautéed mushrooms evenly between the two sandwiches.
  8. Top the mushrooms with the remaining 2 slices of cheddar cheese.
  9. Place the remaining 2 slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  10. Cook the sandwiches over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  11. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before serving.
  12. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve hot.
