Gravlax
Gravlax is a traditional Nordic dish made with cured salmon, typically served as an appetizer or on open-faced sandwiches.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Lemon zest - 1 tablespoon
- Mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh dill - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Salt - 1/4 cup
- Salmon fillet - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, sugar, chopped dill, black pepper, mustard, and lemon zest.
- Place the salmon fillet skin-side down on a large piece of plastic wrap.
- Spread the salt and dill mixture evenly over the flesh side of the salmon.
- Wrap the salmon tightly in the plastic wrap, making sure it is completely covered.
- Place the wrapped salmon in a shallow dish and refrigerate for 48 hours, flipping the salmon halfway through.
- After 48 hours, remove the salmon from the plastic wrap and scrape off the excess salt and dill mixture.
- Thinly slice the gravlax and serve chilled as an appetizer or on open-faced sandwiches.
