Fårikål
Fårikål is a traditional Norwegian dish, consisting of mutton with bone, cabbage, whole black pepper and often a little wheat flour. It's typically served with potatoes boiled in their jackets.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Potatoes - 8, boiled in their jackets
- Water - 1.5 liters
- Wheat flour - 2 tablespoons
- Whole black pepper - 1 tablespoon
- Cabbage - 1 large, coarsely chopped
- Mutton - 1 kg, with bone
Let's Get Started
- Layer the mutton and cabbage in a large pot, sprinkling each layer with salt, pepper, and a little flour.
- Add enough water to almost cover the ingredients.
- Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer.
- Cover and let simmer for about 2 hours, or until the mutton is very tender.
- Serve hot, with the potatoes on the side.
