Fig and Bacon Jam

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped figs and onion. Cook until the figs are soft and the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the cooked bacon back to the skillet, along with the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let the jam cool completely.
  6. Transfer the jam to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  7. Serve the fig and bacon jam with cheese, crackers, or as a spread for sandwiches.
