Eierbal, also known as Scotch Egg, is a popular Dutch snack. It's a boiled egg wrapped in a layer of sausage meat, coated in breadcrumbs, and then deep-fried.

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Boil the eggs for 8-10 minutes, then peel and set aside.
  2. Season the sausage meat with salt and pepper.
  3. Flatten a portion of the sausage meat and wrap it around one of the boiled eggs, making sure the egg is fully covered.
  4. Roll the meat-wrapped egg in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and roll in breadcrumbs.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining eggs.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Carefully lower the eggs into the hot oil and deep-fry for 4-5 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  8. Drain on kitchen paper, then leave to cool slightly before serving.
