Dukkah
Dukkah is an Egyptian spice blend made with nuts, seeds, and spices. It is typically used as a dip or sprinkled on top of dishes for added flavor and texture.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Coriander seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds - 1/4 cup
- Almonds - 1/2 cup
- Hazelnuts - 1/2 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Spread the hazelnuts and almonds on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden and fragrant. Let cool.
- In a dry skillet, toast the sesame seeds, coriander seeds, and cumin seeds over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a food processor or blender, combine the toasted nuts, toasted seeds, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until coarsely ground.
- Transfer the dukkah to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.
- Serve dukkah as a dip with bread and olive oil, or sprinkle it on top of roasted vegetables, salads, or grilled meats for added flavor and crunch.
