Creamed Peas and Carrots
This creamy and flavorful side dish combines sweet peas and carrots in a rich and velvety sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup, grated
- Garlic powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Carrots - 2 cups, sliced
- Peas - 2 cups, frozen
Let's Get Started
- In a pot of boiling water, cook the peas and carrots until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
