Chicken Sekuwa
Chicken sekuwa is a popular Nepali grilled chicken dish marinated in a flavorful spice blend.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Skewers - 4
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Yogurt - 1/4 cup
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Chicken thighs - 1.5 lbs, boneless and skinless
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the grated ginger, minced garlic, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, lemon juice, yogurt, and salt to make the marinade.
- Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavor.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers.
- Brush the grill with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- Grill the chicken skewers for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Remove from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the chicken sekuwa hot with a side of rice or naan bread.
