Chicken Karaage
Chicken Karaage is a popular Japanese dish that is crispy on the outside and super tender and juicy on the inside.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Boneless chicken thighs - 1.5 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, garlic, and ginger. Add the chicken and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and coat each piece in cornstarch.
- Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
