Chettinad Chicken
Chettinad Chicken is a classic Indian recipe, from the region of Chettinad. It is served hot and garnished with coriander leaves, accompanied with boiled rice or roti.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Coriander leaves - For garnish
- Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chettinad masala - 3 tablespoons
- Ginger garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
- Tomatoes - 2, finely chopped
- Onions - 2, finely chopped
- Chicken - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Clean the chicken and cut it into pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Fry until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes until the raw smell goes away.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
- Add the Chettinad masala, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and mix well. Cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
- Cover the pan and cook on low heat for another 20-25 minutes, until the chicken is cooked thoroughly.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with boiled rice or roti.
