Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large pot, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, brown the pork shoulder and beef stew meat in the bacon fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until softened.
  4. Drain the sauerkraut and rinse it under cold water. Add the sauerkraut to the pot.
  5. Add the sliced kielbasa sausage, soaked dried mushrooms, tomato paste, bay leaves, juniper berries, and allspice berries to the pot.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for about 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. Before serving, stir in the crispy bacon.
  9. Serve hot with crusty bread or boiled potatoes.
