Badam Halwa
Badam Halwa is a rich and delicious Indian dessert made with almonds, ghee, sugar, and milk.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Rose water - 1 teaspoon
- Pistachios - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cashews - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Saffron strands - few strands
- Milk - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Ghee - 1/2 cup
- Almonds - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Soak the almonds in hot water for 30 minutes. Peel off the skin and grind them into a smooth paste.
- Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on medium heat.
- Add the almond paste and cook for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
- Add sugar and mix well until it dissolves completely.
- Pour in the milk and stir continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Add saffron strands and cardamom powder, and mix well.
- Continue cooking until the halwa starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Add chopped cashews and pistachios, and mix well.
- Finally, add rose water and give it a final stir.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Serve warm or chilled, garnished with additional chopped nuts.
