Arroz a La Cubana
Arroz a la Cubana is a traditional Cuban dish made with rice, fried plantains, tomato sauce, and a fried egg.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh parsley - For garnish
- Eggs - 4
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, chopped
- Ground beef - 1 pound
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Plantains - 2 ripe, sliced
- White rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Cook the white rice according to package instructions.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced plantains and fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a separate skillet, fry the eggs to your desired doneness.
- To serve, place a scoop of cooked rice on each plate. Top with the ground beef mixture, fried plantains, and a fried egg.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
