Tuna and Tomato Pasta Sauce

This delicious pasta sauce combines tuna, tomatoes, and herbs for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • Grated parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cooked pasta - 12 oz
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned diced tomatoes - 1 can (14 oz)
  • Canned tuna - 2 cans (5 oz each), drained
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic and onion, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the canned tuna and break it up with a spoon. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  5. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
  8. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the pasta is heated through.
  9. Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
