Timballo di Riso is a traditional Italian dish made with rice, cheese, and various fillings. It's baked in a mold to create a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Eggs - 2
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Mozzarella cheese - 1 cup, shredded
  • Tomato sauce - 1 cup
  • Ground beef - 1/2 pound
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1, finely chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Arborio rice - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a round baking dish.
  2. Cook the rice according to package instructions, then set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Stir in the tomato sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, beef mixture, mozzarella, Parmesan, and eggs. Mix well.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, pressing it down firmly.
  7. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
  8. Let the timballo rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
