Swordfish Puttanesca

This flavorful swordfish puttanesca is made with fresh swordfish steaks, tomatoes, olives, capers, and herbs.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Fresh basil - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Capers - 2 tablespoons
  • Kalamata olives - 1/4 cup, pitted and chopped
  • Tomatoes - 2 large, diced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Swordfish steaks - 2 (6-ounce) steaks

Instructions

  1. Season the swordfish steaks with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the swordfish steaks and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes, olives, capers, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, until the tomatoes start to break down.
  6. Return the swordfish steaks to the skillet and spoon the tomato mixture over the top.
  7. Cover the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the swordfish is heated through.
  8. Sprinkle with fresh basil before serving.
