This Spicy Basil Beef is a flavorful and aromatic Thai dish made with tender beef, fresh basil leaves, and a spicy sauce.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh basil leaves - 1 cup
  • Bell pepper - 1, thinly sliced
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Thai bird's eye chili - 2, thinly sliced
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Beef sirloin - 1 pound, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sliced Thai bird's eye chili. Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the beef slices and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
  6. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir-fry for 1 minute to coat the beef and vegetables evenly.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
