Spanish Flan

A traditional Spanish dessert, this flan is creamy, sweet, and has a caramel topping.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Evaporated milk - 1 can (12 ounces)
  • Condensed milk - 1 can (14 ounces)
  • Eggs - 3 large
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until liquefied and golden in color.
  3. Pour hot syrup into a 9 inch round glass baking dish, turning the dish to evenly coat the bottom and sides.
  4. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Beat in condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Pour egg mixture into baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in preheated oven 60 minutes. Let cool completely.
  7. To serve, carefully invert on serving plate with edges when completely cool.
