Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich

This classic New Orleans sandwich is made with crispy fried shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and a tangy remoulade sauce.

Ingredients

  • Remoulade sauce - 1/2 cup
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce - 4 leaves
  • French bread - 4, split lengthwise
  • Vegetable oil - 2 cups
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Cajun seasoning - 2 tablespoons
  • Cornmeal - 1 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Shrimp - 1 pound, peeled and deveined

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. Dip the shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Drain the shrimp on paper towels.
  7. Spread the remoulade sauce on the bottom half of each French bread.
  8. Top with lettuce, tomato, and fried shrimp.
  9. Serve immediately.
