Pesto Pasta with Basil and Pine Nuts

This delicious pesto pasta is made with fresh basil, toasted pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil.

Ingredients

  • Pasta - 12 ounces
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1/2 cup
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Pine nuts - 1/4 cup, toasted
  • Basil leaves - 2 cups, packed

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, toasted pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until well combined.
  2. While the food processor is running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until a smooth pesto sauce is formed.
  3. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a large pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the cooked pasta and toss to coat.
  5. Pour the pesto sauce over the pasta and toss until evenly coated.
  6. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the pasta is heated through.
  7. Serve hot and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
