Pakistani Curry

This flavorful Pakistani curry is made with a blend of aromatic spices, tender meat, and creamy tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - To taste
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • Chicken or beef - 500 grams, cut into pieces
  • Tomatoes - 4 medium, chopped
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and release their juices.
  5. Add the meat pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together yogurt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
  7. Pour the yogurt mixture into the pan and stir well to coat the meat.
  8. Cover the pan and let the curry simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
