Lok Lak

Lok Lak is a popular Cambodian dish made with marinated beef, served with a tangy lime dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cilantro - For garnish
  • Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
  • Cucumber - 1, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - For serving
  • Salt - To taste
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Oyster sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Beef sirloin - 500g, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the lime juice, water, and salt to make the dipping sauce.
  5. Serve the cooked beef on a bed of lettuce leaves, and garnish with sliced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve the Lok Lak with the tangy lime dipping sauce on the side.
