Indian Chicken Tikka Masala Curry

This flavorful Indian chicken tikka masala curry is made with marinated chicken cooked in a creamy tomato-based sauce.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Heavy cream - 1/2 cup
  • Tomato - 2 medium, pureed
  • Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - To taste
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger - garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • Chicken breast - 500 grams, boneless and skinless

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for better flavor.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the marinated chicken along with the marinade to the pan. Cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
