Focaccia with Rosemary

Focaccia with Rosemary

This homemade rosemary focaccia bread is crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. It's perfect for sandwiches or as a side to any meal.

Ingredients

  • Coarse sea salt - For sprinkling
  • Fresh rosemary - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - 2 teaspoons
  • Olive oil - 1/4 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 3 1/2 cups
  • Active dry yeast - 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water - 1 1/3 cups

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5 minutes, or until it's foamy.
  2. Add the flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until it's smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it's doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Punch down the dough and press it into a greased baking sheet.
  6. Use your fingers to make dimples in the dough. Drizzle it with more olive oil, sprinkle it with the chopped rosemary and coarse sea salt, and let it rise for another 20 minutes.
  7. Bake the focaccia for 20 minutes, or until it's golden brown. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
