Fish Fry

This crispy and flavorful fish fry is made with fresh fish fillets coated in a seasoned batter and deep-fried to perfection.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil - For frying
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornmeal - 1/2 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Fish fillets - 4 pieces

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In another shallow dish, whisk together the beaten egg and milk.
  3. Dip each fish fillet into the flour mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  4. Then dip the coated fillet into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
  5. Return the fillet to the flour mixture and coat again, pressing the flour mixture onto the fish to adhere.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the fried fish from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  9. Serve hot with tartar sauce or lemon wedges.
