Cabbage and Potato Gratin

This delicious cabbage and potato gratin is a comforting and flavorful side dish that pairs well with any main course.

Ingredients

  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Cheddar cheese - 1 cup, grated
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • All - purpose flour - 4 tablespoons
  • Butter - 4 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Potatoes - 4 medium, thinly sliced
  • Cabbage - 1 small head, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the cabbage and potatoes to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the cabbage and potatoes and stir to coat evenly.
  6. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
  7. Stir in the cheddar cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  11. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
