Apple Kuchen

Apple Kuchen is a traditional German apple cake. It's a delicious dessert that combines sweet, juicy apples with a rich, buttery cake base.

Ingredients

  • Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Apples - 3, peeled and sliced
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Eggs - 2
  • Granulated sugar - 1 cup
  • Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, softened
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • All - purpose flour - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and arrange the apple slices on top.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle over the apples.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
