Aloo Matar Pulao with Basmati Rice

Aloo Matar Pulao is a flavorful and aromatic rice dish made with basmati rice, potatoes, and green peas.

Ingredients

  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Salt - To taste
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Green peas - 1 cup
  • Potatoes - 2 medium, diced
  • Basmati rice - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash the basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  2. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add grated ginger and minced garlic. Sauté for a minute.
  5. Add diced potatoes and green peas. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Add soaked and drained basmati rice to the pan. Stir gently to coat the rice with the spices.
  8. Pour water into the pan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  9. Remove the pan from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  10. Fluff the rice with a fork. Add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix well.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy the flavorful Aloo Matar Pulao!
